SMART ADITIVES

SOLAR PLASTIC

19-10-2022

Have you imagined that you leave a folder with your important documents and when you return it has changed color because someone has touched it?

The French company Olikrom (olikrom.com), a startup founded in 2014, is manufacturing this type of smart pigments that allow pieces to:

  1. Changes color if the temperature changes.

  2. Change color if the light changes.

  3. Changes color if piece is touched (pressure is applied).

  4. Change color if part comes into contact with a solvent.

  5. Changes color if the piece comes into contact with a gas.

Being able to do it in a reversible or irreversible way, as requested by the client. They can also control what color they want to achieve and how fast they want the piece to change color!

Its founder, Mr. Jean-François LETARD, a researcher and university professor in Bordeaux, France, has innovated to win several awards and obtain both public and private funding.

As he himself has commented, the application of his pigments is infinite. For example, a plane that collides with a bird changes color to warn that something has happened and the part must be replaced, or an overheated engine changes color to warn about what has happened; even a food that has broken the cold chain could warn through the color of its packaging that it is at risk of making people sick.

If you thought you had seen almost everything... the human being has no limits.
